“Meditation is the only intentional, systematic human activity which at the bottom is about not trying to improve yourself or get anywhere else, but simply to realize where you already are”. Jon Kabat-Zinn
In contrast, we often are “mindless”— living in the past or future, caught in judgments, and living somewhat mechanically. Through practicing mindfulness, we become more in touch with our lives, restoring a sense of vitality regardless of our circumstances. We may find ourselves better equipped to work with our own stressors, to navigate conflicts, to focus the mind, and to take decisive action.
Because stress is universal, mindfulness programs have been shown to be of use to both patients and providers alike. Dr. Gupta provides mindfulness programs aimed at serving:
- Physicians (CME-accredited events and 8-Week MBSR Programs)
- Teachers (8-Week MBSR Programs)
- Patients (via Group Medical Visits, with referral from their family physician)
- The General Public (8-Week MBSR Programs and free orientation seminars)
